Paulo C. Lemos is Assistant Professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology in Lisbon, Portugal. For the past five years he was a Principal Investigator at the Lisbon branch of the Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV-REQUIMTE). Since 2009 he has been the group leader of the Microbial Ecology and Technology Lab, where research is mainly focused on the biological processes involving mixed microbial cultures with application in: Waste/Wastewater Treatment and Reuse; Biological Nutrient Removal (organic/inorganic); Bioremediation of soils; Biopolymers Production; Microbial Ecology; Bioconsolidation and Bioformulation. So far he has participated as a team member in 19 national and international projects, as well as being principal investigator of 2 nationally funded projects. As an author he has contributed to more than 50 papers in peer reviewed journals, 1 world patent, 11 book chapters and 180 communications in scientific meetings. Additionally he has been a peer reviewer himself for more than 33 international scientific journals and and Member of the Editorial Board of Applied Environmental Microbiology (since 2013) and Frontiers in Microbiology (since 2018). Due to his extensive experience, several international funding agencies (IAPMEI; ADI; ANI; ESF; STW; Fondazione Cariplo) have called upon him to function as an evaluator for research proposals by academia and industry.
