Harnessing Anaerobic Fungi to Enhance Anaerobic Digestion of Natural and Synthetic Biopolymers
Bio
Magdalena Calusinska is a senior researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. She obtained her PhD from the University of Liège, where she worked on fermentative hydrogen production. In addition to Belgium and Luxembourg, she conducted research in the Netherlands, Spain, and the United States. Her research focuses on microbial ecology and biotechnology, particularly the role of microbial communities in biomass degradation and bioenergy production. She has extensive expertise in anaerobic digestion systems and the application of advanced molecular tools to understand complex microbiomes. At RRB, she will present her work on microbial processes relevant to sustainable bioresource utilisation.
