A note on Leuven

Leuven is a vibrant university town renowned for its beautiful architecture, rich history, and lively student atmosphere. It's an historic long established Flemish city, with impressive buildings and Belgium's largest university which was founded in 1425.
Much of the local economy is concentrated on spin-offs from academic research but Leuven is also the home town to Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewing group, and to the Stella Artois brewery.
During your visit, you can catch a glimpse of its rich history, the current student life and the many green places which are waiting to be discovered in and around Leuven.

By train

Belgium has a dense international train network: You arrive in the centre of Brussels by train from London, Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne in less than two hours.

By car

Leuven is situated on the important Ostend-Brussels-Leuven-Liège-Cologne axis and is located near the junction of two important motorways: E40 and E314.

Cars are not a convenient mode of transport in the centre of Leuven due to many one-way roads and the advice is to keep your car out of the city and use the car parks. Within Leuven, walking and cycling are the easiest, cheapest and most convenient ways to travel. Leuven and its suburbs are very accessible by bus.
